Junior WordPress plugin developer

We’re looking for Junior WordPress plugin developers to help us with internal projects and client projects. We have more than one seat open.

As part of our highly skilled DevOps team, you’ll design, develop, and maintain plugins and web applications, and support and maintain our clients’ WordPress and WooCommerce sites. Alongside client work we run our own servers and infrastructure (Cloudflare, DNS, monitoring, backups, security, page speed) and build our own products, so you will learn far more than WordPress.

You excel in troubleshooting, (REST) API integrations, and developing plugins, while ensuring all code is clean, efficient, secure, and fully compliant with WordPress coding standards and best practices.

This position is for developers who code. PHP is mandatory: most of our work is PHP. You must be comfortable with PHP, JavaScript, CSS, MySQL, and Git, not someone who relies on page builders. Strong PHP framework experience (Laravel, CodeIgniter or similar) without WordPress is welcome; we teach WordPress.

Location: Remote

Hours: Full-time, 160 hours per month. Your hours are flexible, but your working days are not: you must be available on Saturdays and Sundays, with days off during the week.

Work type: Independent contractor, paid hourly. You handle your own tax and social security.

What you will do

• Design, develop, and maintain plugins and web applications.
• Handle support tickets: troubleshoot, debug, and resolve incidents and change requests in a timely manner, including on weekends.
• Write clear updates to clients in English in our ticket system.
• Work closely with the lead developer and the team to integrate plugins and work on multiple projects at the same time.
• Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code using modern development technologies.
  

Job Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
• 1 to 3 years of hands-on development experience.
• Proficiency in front-end (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and back-end (PHP, MySQL, Linux/SSH).
• Familiarity with version control systems (e.g. Git).
• Good written English: you write to clients and the team every day.
• Willing to work in a ticketed, documented, peer-reviewed way (ITIL-style service delivery, Agile ceremonies). We teach the process; what we need is that you work it.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, manage multiple projects, and communicate progress daily.
